Each year a panel of volunteer judges from outside Lawrence County is selected to judge our competition. 80% of each contestant's final score (the remaining 20% Scholastic Achievement is calculated based solely on grades and test scores) is calculated according to her scores from each judge in each category.

In each category, the two highest scoring contestants are awarded the category awards. Overall, the total scores from all categories are calculated to determine Lawrence County's Junior Miss, and First through Fourth Runners Up.

The Spirit award is voted on by all of the contestants to find the one contestant each young woman thought best represented the ideals of the Junior Miss program.

The Judges' Choice Award is a special award decided on by the judges and awarded to an outstanding contestant.
